Minimum Wage

Work is already underway at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) to determine what, if any, change will be made to the current minimum wage of $23.15 – up from the 2023 level of $22.70.

It is unlikely any change will be on the scale seen from the previous government when the minimum wage jumped 45% in five years. An announcement is expected in December, well ahead of the April 1, 2025, implementation date.
